CHILDREN at Colerne Primary School have dug deep into their pockets to raise money for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
To raise cash, the children taking part had to create something that would fly and they were sponsored for their creations.
There were hot air balloons, rockets, jets and some glorious flying inventions.
Headteacher Ann Orme said: "The flight challenge really grasped everyone's imagination, there was a wonderful array of things. There were some amazing machines and many students and staff were surprised by the performance of some of them."
The pupils begged family and friends to sponsor their flying machines and as long as the machines did not drop out of the sky, they were instant money-spinners.
Almost £2,500 was raised as a result for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
"I am very proud of all of them. They took a lot of time and effort and they took the cause to heart," said Ms Orme.
"People from the air ambulance came into the school and talked about their role and there are a couple of people in the school community who owe their lives to Wiltshire Air Ambulance. We are delighted to have raised the money for them."
