FROGWELL Primary School is set to be given two new classrooms to replace its old mobile buildings.

Wiltshire County Council has submitted a planning application to North Wiltshire District Council, asking for planning permission to build the extension, remove two mobiles and extend the playground.

If planning permission is granted, building is expected to commence at the end of the summer term.

The new classrooms should be ready for use by January 2003.

Year four pupils will move into the new classrooms, keeping the junior age pupils in the same part of the school.

The year one classes currently using the mobile will be moved into the main body of the school, leaving space for a bigger playground.

"It is being done because the year one building needs to be replaced and by joining the new classes on the main building they will become a more integral part of the school," said headteacher Avis Ball.

"It will also create another outdoor space."

The county council is funding the development, but the school had to find a contribution of £13,000 from its own funds.
