SCREWFIX DIRECT LEAGUE: DEFENDER Graham Ford swept the board as Corsham Town held their annual presentation dinner at The Southbank on Saturday evening.

The consistent left back took the manager's, supporters', and players' player of the year awards after helping Corsham to a top ten finish in the Screwfix Direct League First Division last term.

More than 100 people attended the event, which also included a three-course dinner and a disco.

Manager Mark Godley felt it had been a fitting was to end a campaign of progress both on and off the field and was delighted for triple award winner Ford.

He said: "It was a really good night. Graham Ford had a clean sweep of the awards and that was thoroughly deserved. The lad has had an exceptional season and has improved throughout the year.

"He has a positive attitude, trains very hard and has been a credit to himself and the club. From a personal point of view, it was a very easy decision to make."

Godley also presented awards to young player of the year Kevin O'Mahony and top scorer John Freegard, who took the manager's award for services to the club.

Said Godley: "Kevin has never let us down whenever we have brought him in and was a deserved winner. He listens, learns and is basically a decent young man.

"John Freegard has done a tremendous amount on and off the pitch and has worked very hard for us this year. He has rejected offers to go elsewhere and we are very pleased he will be staying for next season."

Screwfix Direct League general secretary Ken Clarke presented the Methuen award to Martyn Blackman, along with the chairman's award to Les Blackman and the president's award to John Cuthbertson.

Craig Gingell and Tom Smith scooped the player of the year awards for the reserve team, while Gary Blackwood and Fabio Zucchello took the honours for the youth team.
