ST DUNSTAN School in Calne has been given £10,000 to help make the school journey safer and greener for pupils.
The money has come from the Local Transport Plan and is handed out by Travelwise, a scheme which encourages children to walk to school safely, rather than be driven, and to reduce congestion at the school gates.
William Prendergast from Travelwise, said the school had impressed them by consulting with parents and the community to find out what was needed and actively looking at all the options.
The money will pay for a crossing on Hungerford Road and parking for 60 cycles at the school.
Mr Prendergast said: "The school did a survey with pupils and parents as part of its travel plan development.
"We decide which schools to give the money to using a point score, and Dunstan was right there at the top with everything.
"It was very proactive in helping us."
In all, 17 schools shared in £120,550, including All Cannings, Bishops Cannings and Woodborough Primary Schools.
Mr Prendergast said: "Travelwise is aiming to reduce car journeys to school, work and leisure.
"People need to think about if they can share a lift, and avoid lots and lots of short journeys in the car because it is the worst thing you can do for the environment."
Travelwise also organises the Safe Routes To School scheme.
