TOP dressage rider Jane Bredin is to perform in a golden jubilee extravaganza for the Queen on Saturday.

Ms Bredin, of Great Cheverell, will be among 2,000 riders performing in All The Queen's Horses in the grounds of Windsor Castle, the largest outdoor theatrical performance to be staged for the jubilee year.

Ms Bredin, 42, who runs a training yard at Gastard, is one of the country's most successful dressage riders. She has represented Great Britain in many team competitions including the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.

Ms Bredin will be riding Cupido, an 18-year-old gelding, retired from competition last September.

She said: "It is absolutely a perfect thing for him do. He is such an extrovert and he misses competitions. He has been a bit miffed that he no longer goes out and competes. He likes to be a VIP and he will just love it. I bet he'll think he's at the Olympics when he gets there."

Ms Bredin added: "It's an honour to be asked to take part in something so prestigious. To be part of it is amazing."

Ms Bredin and Cupido will be in a performance called Balmoral, which has a Scottish theme. The finale of the show will recreate the 1953 coronation procession with the inclusion of the gold State Coach.

Saturday's performance will be shown on BBC1 on June 2.
