A BRICKLAYER has had more than 90 staples put into his head after suffering serious injuries in a ladder fall.
Mervyn Evans was working at a building site when the accident happened.
Mr Evans, 60, of Halifax Close, Wroughton, was working for subcontractors Fairwest on a three-storey house at the Bishops Court site in Priory Vale.
The development forms part of a Westbury Homes project in which 39 three, four and five bedroom houses are currently being built.
It is understood he ripped part of the top of his skull off and broke a leg in two places in the accident. He was airlifted to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol where he has now been taken off the critical list.
Clive Wiltshire, managing director of Westbury Homes South West, visited the development after the accident last week and representatives of both the National Housebuilders Council and Health & Safety Executive also visited the site and confirmed safety procedures were in place.
