WANNABE models strutted their stuff and raised more than £2,000 for the Swindon branch of the Down's Syndrome Association.

Around 85 child models and their parents held the fashion show at Hillmead-based call centre Cellular Operations on Saturday night.

Pumpkin Patch of Canal Walk, Sargeo Kids of Victoria Road, Tesco and Asda all donated clothes for the extravaganza, while Cellular Operations doubled the money raised on the night.

Jenny Brett, 32, of Freshbrook, helped organise the event and said her son Callum, aged two-and-a-half, would benefit from the effort.

Callum has Down's Syndrome and has to attend speech therapy at the Drove Centre each week. She said: "So many people require speech therapy and the association really enables children to communicate, whether it's through sign language or speech.

"The Drove Centre is entirely funded through the Swindon branch and the service costs about £11,000 to run each year, so we rely on events like this to raise funds.

"Speech therapy has really helped Callum to integrate into society and not to become an outsider it has also allowed teachers to grasp a better understanding of his needs."

Jenny has a signed Manchester United shirt left over from the raffle and said she would listen to "sensible offers" to boost the association's funds.
