INTREPID Kevin Deacon, 20, from Swindon is about to join the Royal Gloucestershire, Berkshire and Wiltshire Regiment, having completed an intensive infantryman course in Catterick, North Yorkshire.
Private Deacon attended Ridgeway School, Wroughton, before joining the Army late last year and completed the rigorous Combat Infantry-man's Course at the Infantry Training Centre in Catterick.
Kevin, who already has a brother and a brother-in-law serving in the Army, was delighted to get through first time.
The course is designed to teach new recruits how to work as part of a team in an operational environment.
