WE thank Coun Phillip Allnatt for his support of Trowbridge Chamber of Commerce's call for the Wiltshire County Council scrutiny committee to examine our complaint that the Record Office Options Review was biased against Trowbridge (Gazette May 21).

The chamber obviously has a vested interest, to protect the economic well-being of its town. The Record Office is not a new facility. Its removal will have an adverse economic impact on the town.

Our main complaint is the systematic way that the excellent Trowbridge public transport links are concealed in the Review.

Much of Wiltshire is served by a railway line that runs from the regional centres of Portsmouth and Southampton to the regional centres of Bath and Bristol. This line runs through the Wiltshire sub-regional centres of Salisbury and Trowbridge, making it arguably the major public transport route serving Wiltshire.

From Trowbridge, the Trans-Wiltshire Express, the major bus route in Wiltshire, runs through Devizes to Swindon. Thus Trowbridge is the main interchange between the major train and bus services in the country.

The town is also the main interchange between arguably the two major bus services in the county, the X4, 5 and 6 service from Salisbury to Bath and the Trans-Wiltshire Express. Trowbridge is referred to as a main interchange point, along with Salisbury and Bath, by the major bus companies serving the county.

These primary public transport routes connect the main urban centres of Salisbury, West Wiltshire and Swindon.

None of this highly significant, strategic transport information was included in the Options Review.
