MINETY rugby club closed their playing season by raising £650 for Minety Primary School.
The money was raised through a senior clubs' seven-a-side tournament and barbecue, preceded by a special fund-raising event.
Called "Pass it on!", the fund-raiser involved players and minis joining with local parents and children to form a human chain from the rugby pitch to the school, a distance of approximately a third of a mile.
Three rugby balls were then passed from one end of the chain to the other without being dropped.
Adults paid £1 to participate, while children paid 20p.
Together with the entrance fees for the seven-a-side tournament and money generated by the barbecue, more than £400 was raised on the day.
Members of Minety Rugby Club dug a little deeper into their pockets and made this up to a total gift to the school of £650.
