RUGBY: CHIPPENHAM lock Martin Walsh has not ruled out a playing return as he begins his recovery from the horrific injury sustained in the club's play-off defeat against Berry Hill last month.
Walsh spent 12 days in the Royal United Hospital, Bath, after shattering his right leg in the second half of the clash and returned last week.
The 35-year-old broke the fibula and tibia bones and has ten separate fractures between the knee and the ankle.
Walsh is refusing to rule out a Chippenham comeback as soon as he is given the go-ahead by doctors.
He said: "It is possible. I'm just taking it one day at a time at the moment. It is just pretty frustrating. I can't do much and have to sit about with my foot up. "
He plans to return to work at Advanced Light Solutions on Bumpers Farm next week and will have the clamp on his leg removed within five weeks. He praised the support he has received from his teammates, who sent him a surprise when he lay in his hospital bed on the night of the club's presentation dinner on May 3.
Said Walsh: "They even sent me a meal by taxi on the presentation night and that was greatly appreciated."
