A dog that leapt on a train without his owner and has not been seen since could be in Westbury.

Ned, a 10-year-old Labrador Alsatian cross, was with his owner, Jonathan Leach, in Bath when he ran off and he was last seen getting off a train in Westbury on April 29.

Family friend, Delia Adey, said that Mr Leach, who lives in Bristol, often took Ned with him on the train to Bath.

She said: "He must have been getting on the train to go home to Bristol but got the wrong platform and went in the direction of Westbury."

Ned was spotted by a member of staff at Westbury train station who phoned the number the dog has on his identity tag.

Miss Adey said: "Unfortunately while he was on the phone, Ned managed to get free and ran out of the door."

She and Mr Leach have been looking for the dog, described as all black but going slightly grey, ever since.

She said: "We have put up posters, phoned the RSPCA and council dog wardens and we just don't know where to turn next."
