DESPITE changes in name and venue thousands of people flocked to the annual Wiltshire County Show at the weekend.
The West Woodlands site in Frome was packed with displays as people of all ages gathered to enjoy the entertainment.
Amusing the crowds were Texas Rose and Cactus Jack, otherwise known as Lisa Baldwin and Keith Napier from the Portsmouth Wild West Association, and the western theme continued as the annual battle between cowboys and knights took place.
Revellers were also kept entertained by Warminster town crier Phil Seddon as he encouraged children to enter the junior town crier competition to be held in Warminster next month.
Spectators relished a spot of animal magic as the Solent Dog Display Team laid on a lavish show with their talented team of professional hounds.
They showed their prowess as they raced across the assault course and jumped through hoops.
Visitors were also treated to some daredevil human stunts as Jumpin' Jake Semtex wowed the crowds with his death-defying motorcycle stunts.
Imperial Charity, which co-ordinates the event, had been worried the loss of the air show would keep people away this year.
Organiser David McCance, said: "We will make sure it goes ahead next year and have agreed to hold the show in Frome annually from now on."
Due to this the former Wiltshire County Show will now be known as the Wessex County Show.
Mr McCance said: "As half the field lies in Wiltshire and half in Somerset we decided a change of venue also means a change of name."
The show has been inundated with problems over the past two years.
Last year's event was postponed until September due to the foot-and-mouth crisis and this year's venue had to be moved from Corsley Showground after safety concerns were raised.
