CONGREGATIONS from Swindon churches will join together on Sunday in a town-wide ecumenical service to celebrate Pentecost.
Thousands of people are expected to attend Sunday's open-air worship outside the Steam Heritage Centre from 11am.
Among the speakers at the service will be Peter Knight, the former Gloucester, England and British Lions rugby star.
Now an ordained Anglican Minister and part of the West Swindon team based in Lydiard Millicent, Peter played both wing and full back for Gloucester and England. He was part of the first ever England team which toured South Africa in 1972, playing the all black Banlu team and Proteas team which comprised mixed Asian races.
This will be the second year in which an open-air service has been held.
Bishop of Swindon, Rt Rev Michael Doe, said: "We are hoping that everyone attending will be wearing some red as a symbol of Pentecost."
The event is open to everyone. For more information call Swindon 538654.
