NURSES at Trowbridge Oaks travelled back in time on Sunday, May 12, to celebrate Nurses Day.
The national day is traditionally celebrated on Florence Nightingale's birthday and so more than 15 nurses dressed up in 19th century clothing to commemorate the occasion.
Nurse Kay Whyte, said: "It was Florence Nightingale's birthday on Sunday and so we decided to dress up as the nurses would have done then.
"We had a sponge birthday cake and had our pictures taken with all the residents."
One resident who was particularly keen to participate was 80-year-old Kathleen Hinchliffe who used to be a nurse.
Mrs Whyte said: "It was great, as Mrs Hinchliffe showed us all her nursing medals from when she used to be a nurse."
She was awarded a gold medal for nursing mentally handicapped people in 1963 and in 1967 she received the nursing gold medal for general nursing at the Royal Hospital in Chesterfield.
Other credits to her name include running a home for the elderly near Barnstaple in Devon before retiring to Bideford.
In the 1990s Mrs Hinchliffe moved to Trowbridge with her husband Donald.
