A Trowbridge man returned to the Spinal Unit in Salisbury on Friday, May 17, to promote Spinal Cord Injuries Awareness Day.
Peter Hutchings, 41, has organised the event with Owen Clarke, 70, from Amesbury, to highlight what former patients can do to support people who have been injured.
Mr Hutchings said: "We are part of the peer support group set up by the Spinal Injuries Association to help people who have just received a spinal cord injury. We can talk through any worries that people may have and give them the help and support they need to come to terms with what they are facing in the future.
Mr Clarke, who represented Great Britain in the 1960 Paralympics, said: "The key message of Spinal Cord Injuries Awareness day is simple life doesn't need to stop just because you are paralysed."
The event, which includes a barbecue, is at The Duke of Cornwall Spinal Treatment Centre in Salisbury District Hospital, from 2.30pm today.
