JK Rowling's Harry Potter books have captured the imaginations of children and adults alike.
The first movie, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, was released with all the usual hype and blaze of publicity, and there cannot be many people who did not see it at the cinema.
So Saturday's release on DVD and video was not expected to cause too much of a stir.
How wrong can you be? In Trowbridge, 80 people spent their Saturday evening queuing at Tesco so they could be among the first to own the film when it went on sale at midnight.
In other towns, shoppers were waiting for the stores to open on Saturday morning so they could snap up their copy.
Shops across the area report brisk business over the weekend, with stocks selling fast.
Harry Potter is a retailers' dream and the books have been merchandised extensively.
But that has not detracted from the fact that JK Rowling's creation is majestic and is continuing to thrill all ages.
And there is still much more to come, with three more books before the series is complete, and more films in the offing.
