THOUSANDS of coloured newsletters have been delivered by a potential housing developer to Swindon residents, headed Swindon Southern Development Area Planning Swindon's Future.
This cleverly- worded document attempts to convince us that a 4,000-home development in our Front Garden would be wonderful for Swindon and that those who attended presentations in February and March welcomed the plans.
This is both presumptuous and untrue. Though the document outlines the many concerns expressed by residents, it deliberately fails to mention that many of those residents stated forcibly that they were very much against the proposed development.
The newsletter also omits the very real concerns of Wroughton residents, and glosses over many of the practical objections such as the extended flood lines proposed by the Environment Agency.
The Front Garden Action Group is still fighting the development on the grounds that it is against Government policy which says brownfield sites should be developed before any new greenfield site.
This is a stupid place to build, is now probably unnecessary due to changing business circumstances in and around Swindon and is in the wrong place as far as new jobs and traffic are concerned.
