AN office block dubbed the ugliest building in Chippenham is undergoing a £1m facelift.
Bewley House, which was formerly one of North Wiltshire District Council's offices, is being refurbished and turned into office suites.
The Marshfield Road complex was sold as part of the deal to build the council's new headquarters in Monkton Park.
Bewley House was bought by south west property firm HPH.
Work on the exterior and inside is expected to take around four months, with the contract completed by September.
HPH managing director Lindsay Holdoway said: "The work will restore Bewley House to one of Chippenham's main landmark buildings intended to attract a major new occupier to the town."
The refurbished building will provide more than 18,000 square feet of office space, on-site car parking, and storage space.
The former Campbell and Wells building, which stood alongside, has been demolished.
The complex is currently being marketed. Agents are expecting a high level of interest because of the site's location and accessibility to the M4 and mainline railway.
