P K BAKER asks when we will have a railway service to be proud of, reliable and reasonably priced.

The answer is simple. When it is completely re-nationalised with integrated management of trains and track. No sub-contracting to the cheapest service.

Above all, it should be run for service and not profit.

I read recently that Railtrack was in debt despite huge subsidies, yet dividends were still being paid.

So we don't own it, but we're still paying for it.

Enough! We want our trains back.
