MICHAEL WILLS, MP for North Swindon says that research shows many charities and voluntary organisations create barriers to the recruitment of older volunteers by imposing upper age limits, having a bias towards younger people.
He goes on to say, "volunteers like charity shop staff and school governors make an invaluable contribution to our community".
At Age Concern Swindon, we welcome volunteers of all ages and agree entirely with Michael Wills comments that they make an invaluable contribution.
We have numerous opportunities for people to carry out voluntary work within our organisation, and if any readers have some spare time and are interested they should contact me on (01793) 692166.
