THE Midsomer Norton & District Carnival Association is dedicating its 2002 Mardi Gras to the celebration of the Queen's Golden Jubilee.
Mardi Gras 2002, which takes places this Saturday, has been recognised as an official Jubilee event by the Queen's Golden Jubilee Committee.
The Mardi Gras will again feature the European Band events which will take place throughout the afternoon at various locations.
The event will open at midday and run until 11pm. The main stage located at the Town Hall will feature a host of local talent, and commencing at 7pm will include the Big Tribute Show, featuring John Coghlan's Quo Tribute Band.
They will be supported by local bands, Stitches, Real Life, Circle of Blue, Dakaraius, Kayley Deacon-Church and Beck Horne.
The Big Jubilee Parade kicks off at 6.30pm, there will be classes and prizes for all age groups.
A road closure will be in force for the High Street from Mallards to The Greyhound Hotel and Lloyds Bank, plus the whole of The Island from 8am July 13 until 1.30am on July 14.
