SWINDON'S Think Art festival is continuing to show off the talents of young artists.
Students from Swindon College have filled an empty shop in Alexander House with an array of art work
Erne Reid, 57, Jenny Coniglio, 33, Nicola Robinson, 20, Katherine Grice, 20, Irena Squires, 44, Daniel Le Guilcher, 19, Sarah Hughes, 19, and Theresa Dowdeswell, 35, are all studying arts courses at the College.
Katherine Grice, who will be going on to do a Fine Art Degree at Aberystwyth, uses her paint-ings as a way of exploring her own reality. "My paintings are my way of explaining or understanding things," she says.
Nicola Robinson takes her work of acrylic on canvas into the realms of the unknown, exploring threatening situations through nightmarish and surreal imagery.
Jenny Coniglio and Ernie Reid work in ceramics. Jenny likes to work with clay. "It seems to have a mind of its own," she says.
Ernie's work can also be seen in the Arcade Gallery in the Brunel Centre until the end of the week.
Rosa Matheson, director of Swindon Arts, said: "We are really delighted with the success of the exhibition.
"This is such a good way of supporting the Arts in the Community and we thank Alder King for their help in securing the shop unit."
David Miller, letting agent at Alder King who provided the open space, said: "It is great to brighten up vacant shops with vibrant pieces of art work.
"It gives local talent the opportunity to show their skills off to the public."
