AN interesting juxtaposition of articles highlights the lack of consultation with Wootton Bassett regarding development of transport for the Front Garden, (I believe it has been admitted that the developers had never consulted North Wilts District Council about new roads through Hook etc), and also the lack of joined up thinking.
Taking the article on Swindon's other railway into account, if the business people from the Front Garden need a railway to get to Swindon and Swindon station, so does the Abbey Meads development, which had a railway running through the area not all that long ago. In fact if the Cotswold Water Park development is taken into account, then surely a good case could be made for a light railway to go right through the area in conjunction with places on the canal to give access from both Cirencester and Swindon to each other and the water park.
