PUPILS at Sutton Benger School have been pulling out the stops to improve the school environment.
The primary school invited Salisbury artist Johanna Dewfall into the classroom for three days to guide pupils in a jubilee art celebration.
Together they created a gold jubilee mosaic, which celebrates 50 years of school activities including sport, art and maths.
Dawn Beresford, chairman of the Friends of Sutton Benger School, said the project, funded by the friends and North Wiltshire District Council, had been a huge success and had involved all pupils at the school.
The mosaic was created during the school's week-long celebrations for the Queen's golden jubilee. The pupils also enjoyed a musical event, listened to memories of former pupils, learnt songs popular at the time of the coronation, enjoyed a tea party and created an impressive range of royal crowns. Pupils also made scrapbooks.
Mrs Beresford said: "It was a very busy week and everyone enjoyed what they had done. Many children wrote poems which we intend to publish and sell to parents to raise money for the school."
The mosaic will be fixed above the school entrance as an eye-catching welcome to visitors.
