RAF engineer Al Graham cycled 600 miles in seven days memory of a colleague who died from cancer aged 44.

Flight engineer Dave Rimmer died on June 20 2001. His colleagues at RAF Lyneham, Flt Lieut Al Graham, 44 and Flt Lieut Andy Valentine, 45, of the 47 squadron, took to the road to raise money for two charities that Flt Eng Rimmer had both supported and been supported by.

Flt Lt Graham cycled while Flt Lt Valentine was support driver.

"It started off as a quiet affair, I wanted to do something to challenge myself and it grew from there," said Flt Lt Graham, of Hardenhuish, Chippenham.

"The amount of support we received before the trip, during and after reflected the sort of person Dave was."

The team raised more than £2,000 to be split between Macmillan Cancer Relief and the National Association of Colitis and Crohnes Disease.
