DR MARTENS PREMIER LEAGUE: CHIPPENHAM Town manager Tommy Saunders looks set to take his new signings tally for the summer into double figures by the weekend with the signings of Jason Eaton and Murray Fishlock.
Ex-Swindon Town stalwart Mark Robinson became the ninth new arrival in two months on Tuesday night and highly-rated former Yeovil Town duo Eaton and Fishlock are expected to follow over the next few days.
Eaton, a striker who played for Forest Green Rovers last season, played for Cheltenham Town during their rise into the Nationwide League and would add competition to a frontline missing last season's 20-goal striker James Bent.
Pewsey-based Fishlock has played league football for Hereford United and represented England at semi-professional level before a back injury hampered his progress two years ago.
Without a club last season, left-footed utility man Fishlock is currently working his way back to full fitness and will sign for the Bluebirds should his back show no adverse reaction to training sessions at Hardenhuish Park.
He said: "I've known Tommy for many years and have always got on well with him. I've had a bad back injury for a while and Tommy has given me the chance to hopefully prove my fitness and play football again.
"It has been a long process and it is just a case of getting myself back in. In an ideal world I would like to be back for the start of the season."
Should he be successful in his bid for full fitness, the 28-year-old is hoping his vast Nationwide League and Conference experience will help Chippenham in their first ever season at Dr Martens Premier Division level.
He said: "I won an England cap and everything was going well until I hurt my back. I will definitely join if I can prove my fitness and they want me."
Saunders said: "Murray played for Hereford and England and, if we can sort his back out, he'll be another brilliant signing for us."
Giles Harris is another recent addition to the Bluebirds squad having signed for the club after a spell at Weston-super-Mare.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder, formerly with Cirencester Town, said: "Weston offered me terms to stay again for another year, but Tommy gave me the chance to come along to Chippenham. I haven't played at this level before and it is a step up for me. All I want to do is progress and this is a great opportunity for me."
