ROY Waine is using pop music to scare off a predatory heron which is eating his fish.
The heron has made off with 11 fish in three months, and Mr Waine, 67, of Park Road, Malmesbury, hit on the idea of using music to scare the bird away.
Ten days ago he put a radio in his shed, 12ft from the pond which is set to come on at 4am every day.
He has also set the fountain in the pond to come on.
"Before the radio went out there I think the heron had 11 fish, but he has had none in the last two weeks," said Mr Waine, who runs the town's David Hendry Cars with his sons Stephen and David.
"I usually wake up early and whenever I opened the curtains he would fly off, so I'm not surprised he's been scared off by the music."
"Herons are so timid that they think there is someone in the shed, and at the moment the idea seems to be working."
He said the music is on low, and he told his neighbours before going ahead with the idea.
He said he would continue with the radio, changing the time it comes on as the summer progresses.
