AUSTRALIAN Matt Kimble and Nick Dobson excelled with the ball as Marlborough easily dispatched Redmarley by seven wickets on Saturday 6th July.
The home side batted first, but soon found themselves reduced to 40 for eight as the visiting attack seized the upper hand.
A dogged ninth wicket stand restored some pride for Redmarley, but the final three wickets then fell in quick succession to end the hosts' innings on 97. Kimble finished with six wickets for 21 runs, with Dobson claiming two victims. Marlborough had little trouble in reaching their low target and did so with eight wickets to spare.
Steve Jones, a centurion for the second team last week, top scored with 35 not out on his promotion to the first X1, while Paul Clarke finished unbeaten on 15. Kimble suffered a rare failure with the bat and was dismissed for five.
Marlborough skipper Tom Norris was pleased with the display. He said: "We had lost our two previous games and needed to win. We got 20 points and that pushes us up the league table a bit. We've done the double over Redmarley now and have got to be pleased at the halfway point in the season."
Marlborough travel to local rivals Purton on Saturday. Said Norris: "They haven't won a game yet, so we'd like to think we can go there and win."
