THEY say an army marches on its stomach, but three chefs from Hullavington proved that as well as filling stomachs, they can march with the best of them.
Staff Sergeant Mark Normanton, 34, Private Peter Gibson, 23, and Lance Corporal Michael Todd, marched for 24 hours around the airfield at Hullavington barracks.
The trio carried 36lb burdens on their backs throughout their 100-mile march.
Lance Corporal Todd finished the walk a week after his wedding, but proud wife Rachel said that 24 hours in Army boots would not be contributing to a romantic honeymoon.
"I will be staying well clear of his feet," she said.
The walk was in aid of the Hullavington Barracks Rainbow Creche and the lads hope to raise £2,000 in sponsorship.
Despite the exhausting test of endurance, the chefs are looking for a new charitable challenge. "We want to do something bigger next time, this was too easy," said Pte Gibson.
