MEMBERS of a school's environmental club have rebuilt a pond in its grounds.
The John Bentley School pupils researched the pond's wildlife and habitats themselves, put in a new liner in and stocked it with plants.
Parents were invited to a barbecue to celebrate the completion of the pond, at which the students gave a presentation about their work.
The school's Eco Club was started in February with National Lottery funding. Students have also been investigating recycling, making paper and carrying out litter surveys on the school site.
The school is due to relaunch its radio station, and there are also plans to set up a television station for pupils. Students were due to take to the airwaves and revive the radio station yesterday to cover the school sports day.
Teacher Alan Aggett said: "Both the television and radio stations were very active about four years ago," he said. "They used to broadcast regularly to students in the canteen at the north wing site, which everyone used to enjoy."
The Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffalos, from the Dawn of Victory Lodge in Lyneham, donated £310 to the school last week. It will be used to pay for a Sony Camcorder, a bag and tripod, and video casettes.
Another £40 was also donated to the broadcasting project from the Calne Mayor's fund.
