PLAYGROUP leaders of 40 years ago found many changes when they were invited back for the ruby anniversary celebrations at Aldbourne Pre- School.
Audrey Gilligan and Daphne Ludlow were among the first leaders of the playgroup started by Peggy Bendle.
The modern facilities now are a far cry from the early days when the group met in the Methodist Church rooms. It started with about four children but eventually had to move to the Scout hut."
Julie Kent who now runs the pre- school with Annette Jerram said: "About five years ago we were invited by St Michael's School to rent an empty classroom.
She said: "It was good for us because it means we have our own room where things can be left out.
"It was good for the school, too, because it made use of an empty classroom after numbers dropped."
The pre school celebrated its anniversary with a party including a big cake iced birthday cake with the group's logo.
Mrs Gilligan and Mrs Ludlow were presented with posies of flowers by the children.
