RESIDENTS campaigning to stop buses running past their homes have been told their fears are unfounded.
People living in Webbington Road, Chippenham, have launched a petition to stop First Badgerline re-routing its X32 Chippenham to Pewsham service to take in the new Englands development.
They claim a proposed new route would take buses down their road.
Campaigner Donna Perkins said: "Webbington Road is residential. It would not be safe to have buses down here. There are a lot of children in the area and they would be at risk if this was to become a bus route."
A council spokesman said: "The council and First Badgerline have no plans at the present time to route any bus service along Webbington Road.
"It is recognised that the eastern side of Pewsham is unserved by a bus service, so the council would welcome any input from residents as to whether a service is needed in that area."
