BAD COMPANY (12, 116 mins) Starring Anthony Hopkins, Chris Rock. Now showing at UGC and Cineworld, Swindon
Pairing Oscar-winning actor Anthony Hopkins and loud funnyman Chris Rock is a recipe for disaster.
During a mission in Prague to buy a stolen nuclear weapon from dealer Adrik Vas (Peter Stormare), undercover CIA agent Kevin Hayes (Rock) is killed.
The US government's only hope is Kevin's identical twin Jake (Rock again), a ticket tout who plans to marry his girlfriend Julie (Kerry Washington).
Veteran CIA agent Gaylord Oakes (Hopkins) persuades Jake to continue his brother's undercover work and trains the newcomer to become an agent.
This is light on big set pieces and, aside from an overblown car chase, relies on dialogue to hold our attention. But Rock seems uneasy carrying a semi-serious role and fails to gel with Hopkins.
