MARCOS, the Westbury-based sports car maker is back with a new model, the Marcasite TS2509, which is being unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend.

The company, which has had more than its fair share of problems in its 40-year history, is very much back in business with this new soft top car which enjoys the looks of past pedigree examples of the marque and today's more streamlined examples.

Gone are the rather crude controls, Perspex headlamp covers and walnut dash. In are up to date switchgear, sealed lights and an anodised dashboard. In the leather-clad cockpit there is still the racing seat with electric adjustable pedals and steering column.

Powering the Marcasite is a 2.5 V6 to give plenty of performance.

And for those wanting a bit of room to pursue sporting activities outside the motoring arena, there is boot space large large enough for luggage, golf clubs and trolleys.

Marcos founder Jem Marsh, renowned for his contribution to the British motor industry for more than four decades, is delighted with his new baby.

"The Marcasite TS250 will provide a thrilling driving experience in a lively, lightweight new British sports car which is designed to combine the prestige of the past with the appeal of the 21st Century," he said.

"We are particularly delighted to be showing this exciting new model at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and believe it will win the hearts of both male and female motorists across all age groups."
