I WOULD like to thank you for your extensive article on our recent annual football tournament.
I know that many of our parents and those from other clubs were delighted to see such a wide variety of photographs of the various teams and players from the under sevens' and eights' Festival of Football.
However, I would wish to make a few points on the article, which accompanied the pictures. In the article it was stated that Paul Bryant acted as the 'co-ordinator'. While Paul was a vital part of the team of parents and helpers, which made the event possible, the role attributed to him was in fact filled by a number of people.
The co-ordination of the tournament entries was carried out by our joint tournament co-ordinators, Neil Hawker and Ian Meadon and the running of the event over the weekend was the responsibility of the tournament director, Gene Pinnell.
I would also like to clarify Paul's statement concerning Bristol Rovers SC and future invitations to the tournament. As written it would appear to be most unsporting but Paul assures me that it was meant in jest and never for publication. In anticipation of you printing this letter I would like to assure the players and parents of Bristol Rovers SC that they will always be welcome at our tournament and would wish to apologise for any offence caused. The tournament is a competitive event but always played in a friendly, enjoyable atmosphere.
The Wiltshire Times is a great supporter of youth football in Wiltshire and I would like to take this opportunity to thank your paper for its continued support.
TONY MCDONALD,
Chairman, Westbury Youth Football Club.
