A BRASS band from the John of Gaunt School in Trowbridge has been recognised as the second best in the country.
The band, directed by Mike Lomas, was named runner-up in the national festival of music for youth on Thursday.
It was the school's fourth appearance at the festival.
Phil Springate, director of music, said: "They performed so well."
The band members joined over 10,500 young musicians from all over the country at the Royal Festival Hall in London.They played four pieces and were highly commended by the judges.
