A NEW bed is making life easier for a Trowbridge boy suffering from muscular dystrophy.

Daniel Lovering, 12, was diagnosed with emery dreifuss, a form of the muscle-wasting disease, when he was three.

Now Trowbridge Lions have paid for a specially-adapted remote-controlled bed, called a Pegasus Homecare, that will allow him to sit up and get out of bed more easily.

Daniel, a pupil at the Clarendon School, lives with his parents, Andrew and Esther, and little brother Jamie, and has a specially-built downstairs bedroom and bathroom that allows him to maintain some independence.

The Lions got involved after a request from Gill Wicks, tissue viability specialist for West Wilts Primary Care Trust.

She said: "The bed will make life easier for Daniel."
