THE Atrium bar in Havelock Street closes its doors at midnight tonight for the last time.
And if all goes according to plan, the bar will re-open in December following a £500,000 revamp.
When it opens, it will have become a three-floor jazz club, bar and restaurant.
Owners, Paul Studholme and Richard James, who also own Longs Bar in Victoria Road, Old Town, unveiled the plans in May this year, which will see a restaurant and jazz bar on the first floor, a modern lounge-style nightclub on the second floor and a funky look lounge with sofas on the third floor. It is aimed at over-25s.
Mr Studholme said: "We're moving with the times and this will be the first jazz club in Swindon, so we hope it will be popular. It will have a relaxed atmosphere without being a full-on club.
"We want to appeal to a wide range of people here is a place for the young people to escape from banging, loud music.
"And it will be a great place for slightly older people to relax."
