REGARDING Miss Packer's letter on park and ride schemes, I am strongly in favour of them. I do not use a car as I am fortunate enough to work in walking distance of Old Town.

Isn't it about time people started looking forward and stopped whingeing about park and ride. Eventually people will prefer to use public transport rather than clog the roads up and continue to pollute the area.

I pity children whose buggies and pushchairs are about the same height as the exhaust pipes of the cars. It is a well known fact that asthma is more common nowadays, and I would have thought that pollution must be a contributory factor.

As for the letters of complaint you received regarding the cycle path, I take my dog for a walk in the Lawns and the general consensus of opinion is that the council has done an excellent job of providing a cycle path that links us to the other areas such as the new hospital.

The lighting is most tastefully done, so I cannot imagine what the moaners are going on about, apart from self, self, self.

Miss Packer, when my friends read your comments, they were as amazed as I was, so try to get a focus on life life that extends further than Croft Road and consider the wider issues.
