A DRIVER suffered life-threatening injuries after losing control of his car on the A419 near Swindon.
The 48-year-old Gloucester man lost control of the grey Vauxhall Calibra as he was travelling towards Swindon.
He hit the nearside barrier, re-bounded, collided with the central reserve and spun around, coming to rest across one lane.
The driver was taken to Princess Margaret Hospital with serious head and chest injuries after the accident on Thursday.
His condition was described as very critical.
Swindon police's Alvina Kumar said: "No other vehicles were involved. The reason for the collision is not known. The carriageway was re-opened at 5.40pm.
"We are appealing for witnesses or anyone who can help with our enquiries to establish the course of events prior to the collision to contact us."
