CHILDREN at a special school in Park North have an impressive new feature in their play area, thanks to the generosity of fundraisers.
Pupils at Brimble Hill School celebrated the opening of their new gazebo shelter yesterday, bought with donations from the Queenstown Club, GWR FM Appeal, and the Friends of Brimble Hill Association.
They marked the occasion with a day of fun at the school, including a balloon race, bouncy castle, trampolining and visit from the fire brigade. For the less physically able pupils, there was a music therapy session and a classroom was converted into a sensory seaside.
Headteacher Bob Walker said: "The gazebo is a great addition to the play area because it will protect the children from the elements it will be of particular benefit to the more vulnerable pupils."
The gazebo, worth £5,600, is the latest addition to the ongoing refurbishment of the play area.
