ATHLETIC mums from Ashton Keynes undertook a Herculean task in the baking sun all in the name of charity.
On Saturday afternoon onlookers had to do a double take as 20 mothers from the village playgroup pulled a coach full of children half a mile along the high street to raise funds for the group in a Fun Bus Fiesta.
As the children relaxed in comfort their mums toiled in the sunshine, but completed the task and dropped their passengers off at the playing field where the fun continued with a family day.
Attractions included tractor rides, Wellington boot throwing, skittles, face panting and a bouncy castle.
Ashton Keynes Playgroup chairwoman Lindsay Napier, 38, said: "It was a real struggle to get the coach moving to start with, but somewhat unbelievably at one stage we even managed to run with it.
"We all made our way to the beer tent once we had finished we were exhausted. The whole day was a great success thanks to the hard work of so many people and we hoped to have raised more than £1,000 for the group."
