PERCUSSIONISTS Paul Ashman and Andy Wraight certainly know how to drum up support for charity.
The duo completed a gruelling 24-hour drumming marathon at the Octobus Centre, St Luke's School in Cricklade Road.
But for Paul and Andy this was just a warm up for an attempt at a world record in endurance drumming they are planning next year.
Though the record stands at just over 37 hours, they are so confident that they plan to bang away for an amazing 48 hours.
The pair were supported throughout their marathon by Hue Western, Gary Bamford and Chris Garret on keyboards and bass player Kevin Cole.
Around 70 friends and family also cheered them on throughout the night.
Exhausted Paul, 27, of Sterling Close, Wroughton, said: "The event was extremely successful, but my arms ache.
"Drumming for 24 hours sounds a big deal, but it was a great experience. I started to flag around 5am, but the music kept me awake.
"I really think we've a great chance of doing a 48-hour session. All we need to do is get ourselves down to the gym and we'll be there playing the music is not a problem."
Running alongside the marathon on Sunday was a music auction. The top prize was a drum skin donated by ex-Beatle Ringo Starr, fetching £160.
The event raised more than £3,000 for local charities including Brimble Hill special needs school, Soundabout and Swindon School of Contemporary Music.
