YOUNGSTERS in Cricklade have been recognised by the highest ranked fire officer in the country.
Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Fire Services officially recognised the Cricklade division of Fire Station Cadets during a visit to Wiltshire Fire Brigade.
Other guests at the occasion included representatives from schools, and councils who have helped the cadet scheme so far.
Two groups of Wiltshire cadets were present the Cricklade cadets and the Ludgershall cadets.
The two teams of cadets performed three drills for their high profile guests including a pump drill and ladder drill.
Assistant Divisional Officer, Mark Gaskarth, was pleased with the day and hoped it would encourage other young people to give the cadets a go.
He said: "We try to give young people an outlet, and help them develop as people.
"We are looking for new members for the next season, starting on September 4."
If you are aged between 13 and 17 and would like to join, contact Station Officer Ian Jeary at the Fire Station Department on Swindon 401240.
