Wootton Bassett missed the chance of increasing the pressure on leaders Frocester as they lost to Hatherley & Reddings by four wickets in their Glos/Wilts League Division 1 match.
Inserted on a greenish wicket, the Bassett innings started disastrously, losing four quick wickets in the space of just seven overs, with the first four batsmen not troubling the scorers.
Clarke and Gallimore hit a couple of boundaries but they were soon out, and after 10 overs Bassett had slumped to 21-6.
Skipper Steve Twine, together with Jug Chahal, then started to repair the damage, with Twine anchoring the innings and Chahal attacking any loose bowling.
This partnership put on 67 before Chahal was bowled for a valuable 49.
With the wicket now drying out, the later batsmen, Chattell and Lee Stevens, helped Twine in taking the total to 160, Twine finishing on 44.
Bassett needed an early wicket, but with Hatherley's opening batsmen batting sensibly they pushed the score on to 79 without loss at the 25-over stage.
However, Nienaber then had Bray stumped by Chattell, and with three more wickets falling quickly, Bassett were back in the game, with the score at 108-4 with 13 overs remaining.
Nally kept the score ticking along and although Nienaber and Stevens were turning the ball considerably, Bassett were unable to stem the tide.
Elliott came on and took the valuable wicket of Nally for 87, but it was too late, and Hatherley eventually ran out comfortable winners by four wickets and with five overs remaining.
