ANDY KING believes Stefani Miglioranzi will add the 'missing ingredient' to his midfield.
A month-to-month contract is being drawn up which will see the former Portsmouth midfielder added to the payroll from August 1.
The Town boss feels the 24-year-old will be a welcome asset to a rather diminutive midfield.
He is expected to make his Town debut in Saturday's friendly with Newport Isle of Wight.
King said: "He has indicated to me that he would sign now if possible.
"He has the hunger and desire to prove that Portsmouth were wrong to let him go.
"From what I've seen in the two weeks that he's been here, I have no doubt he will be an asset.
"He's a big lad and maybe that is an ingredient we haven't had.
"When I bring a new player in, I ask two questions. Is he different to what I've got and does he improve what I've got? I think the answer is yes to both."
Another new face expected to make his debut at Newport is striker Sam Parkin.
King has yet to get the player's signature on a contract but the signs are increasingly encouraging.
The County Ground boss said: "I would love to have the Parkin situation tied up by the weekend.
"He's certainly indicated that he wants to play on Saturday and that pleases me. It's a question of him officially nodding his head.
"But as I've said, I'll get excited when the ink's drying on the contract."
However, there seems some way to go before David Norris is convinced that the next 12 months of his career should be spent with Swindon Town.
The 21-year-old has yet to give a 'yes' or 'no' to King.
King said: "A year is a long time when you think a player has 10 or 12 years as a professional.
"I don't know all the personal circumstances the boy is taking into account.
"Norris needs to be sure he is making the right choice. But I think Southport gave him the chance to look at us and vice versa.
"We'll have to see on that one."
Meanwhile, King will have his first chance to see Town in action tonight when a mix of triallists, youngsters and reserves take on Didcot Town at Loop Meadow Stadium.
King said: "I want to take a look at Bimbo Fatacun in a competitive match.
"He trained with us again yesterday and he did impress me. Whether he's quite what I'm looking for, I just don't know."
Leeds United's Chris Kamara and former Manchester United goalkeeper Nick Baxter are likely to play some part in the Didcot clash.
Tonight's (Wed) match kicks off at 7.30pm.
