LILIES, roses and sunflowers brightened up a Rodbourne church for a flower festival organised to mark its 100th anniversary.
St Augustine's Church in Summer's Street was filled with colourful floral displays created by members of the church.
The flower arrangements were designed to illustrate a hymn about each of the church seasons such as Advent, Easter, Epiphany and Holy week.
Janet Done, 62, of Harbour Close, was responsible for organising the festival and is also writing a history about the church.
She said: "We wanted to bring people into the church to appreciate the flowers. If we get people interested in Christianity that's good but we want everyone to come in.
"I personally think that flowers are a lovely way to celebrate and the festival was also about being social."
St Augustine's Church in Summer's Street was first established as the Mission church and was built from donations from parishioners who gave a penny for a brick.
