TRIBAL Group plc are very pleased to have gained the contract to provide schools-related education services in Swindon. We believe we can make a difference. An important ingredient of our way of working is an open approach that emphasises good relations and clear communication.
Your editorial piece 'Sex clinics might be a step too far' on Wednesday, July 10, refers to an alleged proposal, attributed to Tribal, that we plan to ask parents if they want schools to provide free contraception to teenage pupils. This is not the case. We have no such plans as we are clear that the sex and relationships education curriculum is a matter for the governing body of each school.
It is certainly true that, well before our arrival, the education and health services in Swindon produced some guidelines on this subject. These guidelines were produced after a wide-ranging consultation exercise. They are not prescriptive, have no legal force, and we have no plans to revise them.
