CHIPPENHAM begin their pre-season campaign with visits to neighbours Calne Town and Corsham Town this week.
Both can expect bumper gate receipts for the matches, which will give the Bluebirds' loyal band of supporters the first chance to see Tommy Saunders' nine summer signings in action for the first time.
Chippenham were due to travel to Odd Down on Saturday, but problems with the Bath side's pitch forced a postponement and instead they will make the short trip to Bremhill View to face a Calne side jointly managed by Paul Rankin and Kelvin Highmore.
The clash, which kicks off at 3pm, will see the two sides contest the Fred Rutty Trophy. The memorial match was held for the first time last year, with the Bluebirds winning on penalties following a 1-1 draw.
Calne begin their pre-season campaign at home to Paulton Rovers this evening, but co-boss Rankin is already looking forward to renewing his acquaintances with former Bremhill View manager Saunders on Saturday.
He said: "I suppose Chippenham have selected us because we are the premier side in the area. Seriously, it was nice of Tommy Saunders to offer us the friendly and he will always be welcome back at the club."
Corsham boss Mark Godley is also excited by the prospect of entertaining the Bluebirds. Chippenham visit The Southbank on Tuesday evening, kick off 7.30pm.
The game has added significance given the fact Godley's most recent summer signings, Jeremy Christopher and Will Halliwell, have both played under Saunders at Hardenhuish Park.
Said Godley: "It will be a great day for the club. We're happy to get them at our place. They are bound to be strong and will probably give all the new players a run out.
"A good crowd would be great for our players and I'm hoping the Chippenham public will come over in force to watch. The fact that it is a midweek game could work in our favour and we're looking forward to it."
Devizes Town are at home to Westbury United on Wednesday night, kick off 7.30pm.
